His parents knew something was wrong when he wanted to skip chorus. Jonathan Seltzer loves singing. He takes vocal lessons with Ron Sharpe, who once played Jean Valjean in “Les Miserables” on Broadway. He goes to theater camp at Middlesex County College and has landed lead roles in school plays, including Willie Wonka in this year’s Hammarskjold Middle School play. Jonathan said he sings more than he talks.

In the second day of classes at Hammarskjold Middle School in East Brunswick, a boy approached 11-year-old Jonathan Seltzer in the front hall and called him a name. The verbal harassment continued into the fall, Jonathan said, and in November, he went to his principal.

From the time he was four years old, now 11-year-old Jonathan Seltzer endured years of being picked on, intimidated and bullied. “As a parent, it’s hard enough to watch your child fall off of a bicycle or to get tackled on the football field or hurt, but to see your child being eaten from the inside out is very difficult to say the least,” said Jonathan’s father, Butch.​​
